We met Makra, Dany & Srey Lin in a trash pile beside the road looking for some cans and plastic to recycle to buy a drink and something to eat.
There was a time when
A WAR ON
EDUCATION
ROBBED Khmer children of their FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES.
It takes so little by way of resources to make big changes in these kids lives. We have already built a small, safe school and scalable learning facility for teaching English & I.T skills, but we are just two people, and we are at absolute capacity. We desperately need help and sponsorship. We have dedicated our lives to this project but we need your help right now just to keep the doors open. We live and breathe this project. Please help us to continue.
Thanks to your generous donations, we are able to supply these beautiful kids with snacks and daily free English tuition.
You can help other idisadvantaged children like Makra. learn how by reading the full story on our "sweet stories from the school" page.

David & Reaksa
A FREE English Literacy
& I.T Skills building
TOUL SAMBO, CAMBODIA
Hello World!
We are David & Reaksa, an Australian / Khmer couple, residing in Toul Sambo, on the far outskirts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. TeacherTech is free English literacy, I.T skills building and community outreach startup that we founded in 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdowns.
Toul Sambo is an disadvantaged community where many families struggle to make ends meet and the children face uncertain futures on account of a lack of access to educational resources that much of the world takes for granted as staple elements of a child's academic journey.
Access to computers and the internet in homes, as well as free tuition in relevant disciplines make a huge difference to a child's knowledge base. Imagine being an impoverished child and being gifted the wisdom of literacy in an internationally recognized language and computing skills. Being given an old computer is being given the sum total of all known human knowledge. This has a profound impact on any child's future opportunities in their adult life.
We have moved here to renovate an old single room brick house built by Reaksa's father in 2008 and repurpose it into a free school and educational facility to provide 21st century skills to disadvantaged Khmer youths and and school supplies, food and clothing to struggling families.
David is an Australian expatriate with a passion for the English language and technology. He has fallen in love with Cambodia and it's beautiful people. In particular, he has fallen in love with Reaksa and the children of Toul Sambo. Affectionately known around the neighborhood as "Pou Barang" (Uncle White Guy), David spends his days sourcing and collecting items for our school and other similar charity projects throughout Cambodia. David will soon be offering classes in I.T ranging from basic computer operation to internet basics as well as an introduction to programming.
Reaksa lived in the house that is now our school for many, many years and as such is well known around the Toul Sambo neighborhood as Jai Reaksa (Sister Reaksa). Her lifelong relationship with many of our children and members of the community means that the kids actually look forward to coming to our school to learn. Reaksa teaches two free English classes per day to up to 50 disadvantaged kids in our community.
.
Aside from daily English tuition, TeacherTech has strong ties with community outreach work, constantly sourcing donations of old computers, kids toys, clothing, non-perishable foods and school supplies, which we source, process and distribute to disadvantaged youths, struggling families and other schools in need of supplies, both in our community and surrounding areas.
Our mission to ensure that impoverished Khmer children are not left behind in this digital world, where their opportunities are directly linked to their competencies with 21st century modern skills such as Information Technology and an international language.
We are only two people and are truly struggling to continue to provide these services so we really need your help to keep up our pace and achieve our goals of a self-sustaining, sponsored charity where disadvantaged Khmer kids have a fair chance at a good life.
One Love,
community Outreach project
SERVICES & OUTREACH
Here are some of the amenities and services that we provide to help the community.
Computers In The Home
<90% of Khmer homes outside of the Greater Phnom Penh area with school aged children have no access to a computer. We are slowly but steadily putting a dent in this statistic.
Technology for Children
Your old PC, laptop, tablet can be repaired, upgraded and repurposed to live a new life providing critical education to hungry young minds. We also donate extra computers to other non-profit projects aimed at helping Khmer youths.
Computers & Internet Access
Through donated computers, students and local youths now have access to a computer room for internet, research, and recreation! We also offer free printing and free resume building by appointment..
Life Skills lessons
Many parents in Toul Sambo work long hours, so we teach the kids how to prepare simple meals and practice good food and fire safety.
Free Daily Education
I.T Lessons - COMING SOON!
Snacks & School Supplies
To ensure the costs to Khmer families remains zero, it is through your generous donations that we can provide daily snacks, treats and all school supplies, such as books, bags and pens to our students and other children in the area.

Beginner Class #2 - 4:30pm - 6:00pm
A Safe Place
Free Community Library
TeacherTech is a safe space where bullying is not tolerated, collaboration and teamwork is rewarded and the children are free to express themselves. We are an ultra-low budget project with a lot of love and happy, high vibrations.
We are currently collecting books in English & Khmer, as well as desks and shelves to be used in a free community. Books will be in Khmer & English and cover both fiction & non-fiction. COMING SOON!
Road Repairs
Toy Giveaways
Many Khmer children do not have toys. As often as possible, we provide dolls, cars, lego, bubble wands, story books and other toys to children in the poorest areas of Cambodia. We also clean and repair your old toys to give them a new life in the arms of a child.
Many roads in Toul Sambo are in poor condition. An anonymous donor recently allowed us to start repairs. In September 2022, we dumped and spread 40 trailers of base rock to fill holes and 40 trailers of sand to stabilize.
Can you help us with a small
donation?
ANY AMOUNT HELPS US TO COPE WITH THE VARIED COSTS OF RUNNING THIS PROJECT <3
Clothing for the Community
We are constantly collecting used clothing of all sizes which are given to any students or local children and their families. We are in discussions of starting a free clothing store where students and prospective job seekers could acquire clothing free of charge

OUR 2022 in a nutshell
TAP TO PLAY VIDEO
All of these kids started learning English in 2022 at TeacherTech <3
A large, disaffected group of impoverished children currently exist in Cambodia. They live in the same world as everybody else - one where quality of life is linked in many ways to one's competency with 21st century technologies and literacy. Impoverished Khmer kids in rural areas stand no chance in a digital world if we can't provide them with these modern basics.
.
Sadly, many of these children will never see an end to the cycle of poverty, but some will, and those who do will be the ones armed with an international language such as English and competencies in critical basic modern technologies..
The children of impoverished families are at a major disadvantage in terms of the opportunities that will be offered to them in their adult life.
A child who grows up in Cambodia without an education faces the pitfalls of poverty, meaning exposure to drugs, crime, gangs and most frequently prostitution is inevitable.
With such a lack of opportunity, many girls and young women are forced into to the sex trade, sometimes for generations, without no light at the end of the tunnel.
If you can, please make a small donation today so that we can continue to bring better opportunities and happier outcomes to the stories that these beautiful kids will one day have to tell. We are only two people and are at maximum capacity, both physically and financially so we are calling the cavalry and praying that our voice is heard.
Please help us improve the future for impoverished Khmer youths, before it is too late and they are left behind in a digital world, where your outcome is linked to your competencies with technology and internationally recognized languages.
Thank you to those wonderful people who have helped us to create what we have and we hope you will choose to help us expand the reach of our embrace.
We rely on your donations to keep the doors open and the lights on. Please consider a small cash donation to help us continue this work.
HOW TO DONATE:
We currently have four established methods of payment. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like to help us out in other ways. We are always in need of food, school supplies, technology and kids toys for the community.

Sweet Stories from the school
Welcome, little ones!
22 October 2022
Whilst returning from the city with supplies, Reaksa encountered three young children beside the road searching for cans and plastic to recycle so that they could buy a snack.
She asked them how long they had been working. "All day" they said. It was 4pm. You can see how little they had collected in the above photo
These children should be in school, not walking the streets to get enough sustenance to offset their diet which is sometimes simply plain rice and salt.
Let's look at how much work it would take to do this job:
+
Aluminum Cans
It takes 70 aluminum cans to make 1kg
Sell 1kg Aluminum - 5000 riels (USD $1.25)
COLLECT
70 cans
+50 bottles
Plastic Bottles
A 500ml thin, Cambodian-made plastic bottle weighs approximately 20g
1000g / 20g = 50 bottles.
It takes 50 x 500ml water bottles to make 1kg
Sell 1kg Plastic Bottles - 3000 riels (USD $0.75)
You will receive USD $2.00
Reaksa contacted the children's parents and told them of our school and asked if they could come to learn without having to walk the streets looking for recycling, and we'd give them some snacks. The rest is history...
Welcome to TeacherTech, little ones. You're too young to work for snacks.
Your donations go towards buying snacks and school consumables for daily English tuition for impoverished Khmer children.

Art Supplies!
18 December 2022
We got a sweet little delivery of art supplies from a dear friend, Niki, who was moving away to a new job. We are very thankful for the paints, pencils, brushes, books and other cool stuff. We'll have another art day with the kids very soon.

Paying it Forward.
November 22 2022
TeacherTech is proud to be able to provide
Kirivong Primary School with a laptop for their school office administration. Our friend Niki Hiratsuka was kind enough to deliver it to the principal on our behalf.
This school is remotely located and has 271 enrolled students so we hope that this small gift will help with their many office tasks! This donation was made possible through your generosity.

TOYS TOYS TOYS
7 October 2022
Our warmest thanks to David's childhood best friend in Australia, Kris Bishop for his kind donation that allowed us to buy lego, dolls and toy cars for all of our students. Thanks Kris!
Many Khmer children in this community are without toys of any kind. Small gifts to these children are received with a level of gratitude seldom seen in the Western world.
Your donations go towards buying snacks, school consumables and the occasional toys to put smiles onto the face of impoverished Khmer youths.
